With online platforms now common for career growth, people from all backgrounds can explore different industries. These platforms offer a centralized space for people to advance in their professional career in a variety of fields and industries.
Finding and recruiting gamers often requires extra research into their skills, history, and online presence, relying on algorithms and profile visibility. Without a solid foundation, many gamers lack proper resources and support.
The goal of this project was to design a new platform dedicated to the gaming community, allowing users to promote themselves, connect with others easily, and find professional opportunities.
To better understand our users' needs, my team and I conducted research on our target audience and existing job-search platforms.
We created a survey focused on gamers’ experiences and challenges in finding professional opportunities. From the results, we identified four key pain points MyXP aims to solve.
Based off analyzing and findings from conducting user research, a user persona was constructed to help represent our target audience's needs and goals.
As a result of our research, my team and I brainstormed a number of key features and solutions that addresses the findings from our survey study.
Users would be able to customize their profiles to show: bio, background, achievements, social media, etc.
Users can important and display their in-game stats from a variety of competitive games to accurately reflect their history.
Users can stay up-to-date with their community through promoting engaging events or following their favorite figures.
Users are provided with various postings in a consolidated area dedicated to gaming opportunities and roles, including a variety of standard features such as search/filters/and other browsing functions.
In an effort to find inspiration, my team and I compiled a number of visual references to craft a visual identity for MyXP.

Expanding upon some of the key features, my team and I crafted a number of wireframes to get us started on the design.
Provided are just a few notable low-wireframe mocks out of many others.
With the wireframes created, my team and I conducted user testing with some of the current volunteers and users that we previously interviewed.
Based on these tests, my team and I implemented a number of key design solutions into our final designs.

The following high-fidelity designs belows are a few key screens of MyXP that highlight the platform.
The main home page features recommended posts for the user based on different categories: Discover, Following, and Company.
Additional functions, such as being able to quickly interact with relevant streamers or top gaming news are also available from the home page.
The first part of the user’s profile showcases a highlight of top statistics from a different competitive games.
This allows the user to have a consolidated area for data coming from a variety of games, reducing the need for others to go onto different sites or platforms to learn about the user.
The second part of the user’s profile includes their experience and history.
Here, the user can enter in different roles or highlights of their gaming career that they would like others to see.
MyXP also offers a dedicated job postings area meant for users to explore and find gaming roles and opportunities.
General browsing features helps the users narrow down their exploration and find a close fit.
In collaboration with the developers on the team, a rough demo showcasing MyXP and a few functions is available to view below!
Other design opportunities that I discovered while working on this project include exploring the possibilities of translating the desktop design into a mobile app. Additionally, Further testing with the programming team would allow them to find areas to me implement new design solutions.
Through this project, I was able to apply my skill and design a product with my project team. Though I personally have gaming experience from a casual to intermediate level, creating and researching MyXP allowed me to diver deeper into the professional scene to create a platform that addresses players' needs.
